Stage 6, 6 January
Grand-Popo / Agoué
Between land, sea and memory
Here, the journey slows down. We look at the sea. We listen to the stories.
Why this stage matters in the search for our roots
We reach the coast, where the world of our ancestors met Atlantic history.
Grand-Popo and Agoué were among the secondary ports of the slave trade: trading posts, embarkation beaches, lagoon routes used to gather captives before their forced departure. Today they are places of reflection and resilience, where the Afro-Brazilian heritage also lives on.
